OGS 1.20 (PFD+ND+MCP) Manual

.

Description

OGS (PFD + ND + MCP) is a "Glass cockpit software". This version is dedicated to boeing type aircrafts, and in particular to the B737NG.

The PFD + ND+MCP connect to MSFS using FSUIPC and WideFS (Payware), or IOCP server (Freeware). We have also implemented a connection via FDSConnect, but the version we tested appear to be quite limited (for details, see insert below).

The PFD is quite standards and implement all the features.

The ND implements 3 out of 4 modes, that can be selected on the EFIS : Map, VOR and APP. The PLN mode has been left out in this version, due to the unavailability of the FMC at the time being. The 3 EFIS mode above can be displayed normal or centered (The EFIS controls are emulated via the keyboard).

The Navigation Display in Map mode.

The Navigation Display in Centered mode.

The Navigation Display in VOR mode (Not Tuned).

The Navigation Display in Approach (APP) mode.

Although no graphic interface is included for the MCP (is it usefull ?), all MCP functions are available from the keyboard.

The manual is supplied as a pdf file (for acrobat reader) : OGS 1.20 manual

Version History

* Version 1.20 is the current version of the PFD + ND. We added connection to IOCARDS (using a SIOC server), and improved the design to fit better with the real thing. Features added :
- Angle of Attack (AOA) indicator
- metric Altitude display
- FPV (Flight Path Vector)
- Track (wind correction) in the ND & PFD
- Rising Runway
* Version 1.11 Bug fix release - mode annuciator improved - transfert of configuration between rose and arc mode in ND - altitude setpoint in PFD fixed
* Version 1.1 added :
- IOCP server connection, for a full freeware solution.
- Keyboard re-mapping by user .
- fixed bug concerning external MCP use.
* Version 1.0 is the first full version of the PFD + ND. We added :
- Centered modes in the Nav display.
- VOR and APP modes.
- ADF/VOR needles in the ND.
- Mach mode to the MCP.
- MDA/MDH indication in the PFD.
- Altimeter pressure settings in the PFD
- Captain and F/O independant displays on a two screen configuration.
* Version 0.9 was an internal interim version, not made publicly available.
* Version 0.8 was the first publicly released. The ND only had the Map mode.

FDSConnectionWe have tested version 1.3, which can be downloaded from the Flight Deck Software site. Although FDSConnect is very easy to install and use, and is FREEWARE, it has limitaion that prevent it to work properly with OGS :
- NAV radio status is incorrectly reported (FSUIPC offset 0x3300).
- Nav1longitude is not available (FSUIPC offset 0x0878).
- Radar altimeter is not available (FSUIPC offset 0x31E4).
- DME distance strings for NAV 1&2 are not available.

Anyway, the choice of FDS connection is made possible through the OGS configuration file.
